A free hunting app for the whole team – follow the dogs with MiniFinder Hunter

When the dog is working out of sight, its barking alone may not tell you how the drive is developing. The handler can check the dog’s location on their tracking device, but that information is useful to those waiting at their posts too. Is the dog heading towards your part of the drive, or has it turned back? With MiniFinder Hunter, you can follow the dog’s movements on your phone’s map from your post. There’s no charge, whether you’re a regular member of the hunting team or a guest for the day.

Follow dogs and fellow hunters in one free hunting app

MiniFinder Hunter shows the dogs’ movements and your fellow hunters’ locations on the same map. You can see dogs equipped with MiniFinder Rex or Vexo, along with handlers, hunters at their posts and other participants who share their location. From your post, you can see where the dog is moving in relation to you and the rest of the team. The app is free, and there’s no charge to view shared locations. Rex and Vexo require a licence costing €69 per year, per device, paid by the handler who registers the dog tracker to their account. If you use a compatible Garmin dog tracker, you can also view your dog’s location in MiniFinder Hunter. 

Share your dog’s location with the hunting team at no extra cost

Before the day’s hunt, the hunt organiser sets up a hunt in MiniFinder Hunter and invites the participants. Once the hunt is active, the dog’s location is automatically shared with those taking part. Fellow hunters’ locations are also visible when they have enabled location sharing. There’s no need to share the dog individually with everyone at their posts. If the owner wants someone to follow the dog outside an organised hunt, they can share its location with a contact or group.

Each participant uses their own free account. Whether you’re at a post or joining as a guest, you don’t need your own tracking device, an app subscription or a separate licence to view the dog’s and fellow hunters’ shared locations. The device licence applies to the owner’s connected MiniFinder dog tracker. There’s no additional charge for each person following the hunt.

Get started with MiniFinder Hunter before your next hunt

Open the App Store on your iPhone or Google Play on your Android phone. Search for “MiniFinder Hunter” and download the app. Then open it and follow the instructions to create and verify your account. Both the download and your account are completely free.

Once your account is ready, you can add your hunting companions as contacts, create a hunting team and start planning hunts. Choose the hunting ground, set the date and time, and invite everyone taking part. It’s worth doing this together before the day’s hunt, so everyone has time to get familiar with the map and check that location sharing works before heading out to their posts.
